SUMMARY:Bus Tour - Fallingwater\, Kentuck Knob\, Ohiopyle and Flight 93
DESCRIPTION:Western PA Bus Tour May 6-7\, 2023\n\nKentuck Knob\, Fallingwater\, Ohiopyle & Flight 93\n\nBus Departs Willow St.\, Lancaster & Harrisburg\, PA\n\n\n\n\n\nWelcome Spring with Bucket List Tours as we spend the weekend in the Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands. We will tour two of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses\, Ohiopyle and Flight 93. Spending Saturday night at a local hotel. \n\n \n\nWhat is special about Frank Lloyd Wright's houses? Frank Lloyd Wright used organic architecture to plan each and every structure. Using the environment around where the structure would be\, he would design and build accordingly\, resulting in unique structures and homes that fit with their landscape\, rather than A cookie-cutter\, homes. Frank Lloyd Wright was a great originator and a highly productive architect. He designed some 800 buildings\, of which 380 were actually built.\n\n\n\nKentuck Knob\, A Frank Lloyd Wright home. Designed on a hexagonal module\, Kentuck Knob is a small\, one-story Usonian house. Usonian\, meaning affordable for the average American\, was a signature design of Frank Lloyd Wright. Both dramatic and serene\, the house\, situated just below the crest of the hill\, appears almost part of the mountain itself and stands 2\,050 feet above sea level.\n\nFallingwater is a house designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in the Laurel Highlands of southwest Pennsylvania\, about 70 Southeast of Pittsburgh. It is built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run. It was designed to serve as a weekend retreat for Liliane and Edgar J. Kaufmann\, the owner of Pittsburgh's Kaufmann's Department Store. Upon completion the house instantly became famous\, and today it is a National Historic Landmark.\n\nOhiopyle is the southern gateway into the Laurel Highlands and represents the beautiful natural resources and unique sense of community that visitors can find throughout the region. Passing through the heart of the park\, the rushing waters of the Youghiogheny [yawki-gay-nee] River Gorge are the centerpiece for Ohiopyle. The "Yough" [yawk] provides some of the best whitewater boating in the eastern United States\, as well as spectacular scenery.\n\nA common field one day. A field of honor forever. The Flight 93 Story.\n\nOn the morning of September 11\, 2001\, al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners in a strategically planned attack against the United States. These terrorists intentionally flew two jet airliners into the World Trade Center's Twin Towers in New York City and a third aircraft into the Pentagon in Arlington\, Virginia. A fourth aircraft\, United Airlines Flight 93\, crashed into an open field in Somerset County\, Pennsylvania\, killing all passengers\, crew members\, and terrorists on board. The four aircraft strikes killed nearly 3\,000 people\, the deadliest attack on American soil by a foreign entity. This is the Flight 93 Story.\n\nDay 1: Depart Lancaster at approximately 6 AM there will be a rest stop as we travel to Kentuck Knob\, our first guided tour of the day https://kentuckknob.com.
